Once I discovered dress boots I was hooked, I mean dress shoes and Boots combined whats not to love. The only thing to not love is the price and finding a truly good pair. Well here I am to try and solve some of that problem at least the good pair of dress boots and work on the affordability of the boot as well.
The first brand that I love are Allen Edmonds, they make awesome quality shoes the price is average for dress shoes and their quality is superb.
Allen Edmonds
Allen Edmonds boots fall into the price range of around 200-400$ for leather and around 700 for shell cordovan.
Johnston & Murphy
Sticking with quality but not selection you can pick yourself of good chukka boots at Johnston & Murphy for around 130 or lower if on clearance.
Next looking towards more british/European brands your sights set on quality still and trying to stay in affordability you can look at brands such as Loake with over 5 generations of shoemaking history, and if you shop around you can find Herrings for around 200-300$.

After you’ve chosen your brand that you would like to purchase from the last thing to do is choose a style. I myself find this truly the hard part with there being so many styles of boots on the market from traditional Brogue, Captoe, Chukka, and Wingtip just to name a few. In whatever style you choose make sure to choose something that will last something Goodyear Welted as we will talk about next week.
